In addition to our Administrator, who has been on the job since Cascadia Eye was born, we utilize the team approach so our staff is supported whenever there is a need. Our team averages 15 years with Cascadia Eye and consists of those with expertise in managing every department, in human resources, and in marketing, to name a few.
Sheri Saldivar, CMPE, LDO
Together with Dr. Nannette Crowell, Sheri Saldivar began North Cascade Eye Associates in 1985, with Dr. Crowell concentrating on developing the clinical processes and Sheri concentrating on the business. An entrepreneur at heart, Sheri saw the new clinic as a limitless opportunity for creativity and growth. First there was a computer system to implement—as a result we were one of the first clinics in the valley to be fully electronic. In order to better control the quality of the glasses our prescriptions generated, our first optical store was opened in 1985–and then a finish lab. With our specialty we needed technically trained staff so an Apprenticeship for opticians and other successful training processes were put into place.
Under Sheri’s vision, other doctors and support staff were recruited, resulting in opening locations in our neighboring communities, and further sharing our state-of-the-art eye care processes. Next came the development and opening of our eye surgery center, offering truly personalized care for our surgical patients. Now our little duo of Dr. Crowell and Sheri has grown to become ‘Cascadia Eye’ — with ten providers, six locations, an ASC and over 70 employees. But Sheri hasn’t lost her vision of limitless opportunities, or her need to be an expert in change management! Her current focus is using our size and growth to improve our supply chain and developing our lens manufacturing expertise, so we can offer the absolute best prices while maintaining the quality and service that our neighbors expect and deserve.
Janet Knutson, OSC, CPSS
Janet Knutson is our CEO’s administrative assistant, handling multiple projects at once on behalf of Sheri and the Board. She is also chair of our Safety Committee. Janet first joined our practice in 1993. Two years later she left to stay with her children, but she came back in 2000 – and hasn’t left since. As one of our beloved long-term employees, she exemplifies dedication and a great love for her job. In 2016, she passed two tests to elevate her patient care further: the OSC (Ophthalmic Scribe) and the CPSS (Certified Patient Service Specialist), a nationally-recognized certification. As the administration’s right hand, she embraces the opportunity to learn new and varied things every day. For fun she enjoys cooking, camping and motorcycling with the love of her life, with whom she lives in Sedro-Woolley. She has two grown children, two grown stepchildren, and two dogs–and five grandchildren in Alaska!
Jodi Hulst, OCS has been a part of Cascadia Eye since March of 1999, and is Cascadia Eye’s internal operations manager. She has over 25 years of experience with billing in the medical field and in 2016, she added Internal Operations Manager to her job description. You can read her full bio–and meet her team–on the Internal Operations page.
Darcy Anderson, COT
Darcy Anderson is our friendly and delightful clinical supervisor and technician personnel manager. You can read her full bio and meet our ophthalmic technicians on our Technicians/Nursing page.
Becki Vosburgh, LDO, ABOC
Becki Vosburgh, LDO, ABOC has been with Cascadia Eye since 2004, and is much loved by patients. She primarily works out of our Mount Vernon location as the Optical Manager for the practice. You can read Becki’s full bio, and meet her team–serving all six optical locations–on our Opticians page.
Jan Taylor has been here for over 20 years–she started way back in August of 1991 as a receptionist and appointment secretary. She had come from a bookkeeping position and wanted to try a change of pace–but soon discovered her first love would always be numbers. She became Cascadia Eye’s bookkeeper full-time in 1995, and hasn’t left since. Jan handles staff payroll, bank deposits and reconciliation, and more–she loves every moment of it, and can’t imagine what it will be like to retire someday. She considers the people at Cascadia Eye to be her family and thinks of herself as the office “Mom,” an apt description since she certainly takes good care of everyone.
Jan loves her real family too: her husband, four adult children, and thirteen grandchildren ranging from ages four to eighteen. Jan reads voraciously in her spare time–even her license plate proclaims “Booknut.” She loves traveling every year with her daughter Jodi and embarrassing the grandchildren. And, as everyone in the office has discovered, she is a huge Seahawks and Mariners fan!
Alexandra Brandt has been a part of Cascadia Eye since she was just a few weeks old–as Dr. Crowell’s newborn daughter, she became the very first Office Baby. Patients loved watching her grow up, and the clinic was like a second home to her. After graduating from college with a degree in English, she came back in 2008. As a patient services coordinator, she began to also help with marketing projects–art and writing–as a part-time Marketing Assistant. Now, as a full-time part of the practice’s Marketing Team, she designs all of the clinic’s brochures, handouts, and marketing pieces, and serves as Cascadia Eye’s copywriter on social media and our blog. On her own time, she writes and sells short stories and does freelance book cover design. She volunteers her advertising talents for the Skagit Valley Chorale, where she also sings. She loves reading, playing tabletop games, and making curries with her husband Erik Kort.
Derek Jordan joined the Marketing team in February 2018. He functions as Cascadia Eye’s in-house webmaster, responsible for overseeing the performance of this very website. He is particularly focused on enhancing outreach by making sure that people seeking eye care information online can easily find it on this website. He graduated with high honors from the web development program at Skagit Valley College, and also has a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology. He continues to expand his skills–and tutors students–and considers his position at Cascadia Eye to be ideal: working for a socially beneficial organization while doing what he enjoys.
