As tariffs — both current and proposed — continue to affect industries across the board, from groceries to glasses, we want to keep you informed about how Cascadia Eye is responding.
First and foremost, we are working diligently to avoid passing unnecessary costs on to our patients. We’ve been in close communication with our lens and frame vendors, and we’re seeing a range of responses. Some, like us, are choosing to prioritize their customers by holding prices steady or only adjusting for actual tariff-related costs. Others, however, have raised prices significantly — in some cases beyond what the tariffs would justify.
For example, Luxottica-Essilor, the parent company of Oakley and Ray-Ban, recently increased their wholesale prices by 6%, despite having the global manufacturing flexibility to absorb these costs. In contrast, many smaller, independent brands — who are more directly impacted by tariffs — are maintaining fair pricing practices.
In response, we’ve made the decision to limit our purchases from vendors whose pricing strategies don’t align with our values. Instead, we’re expanding our partnerships with independent designers who are acting with integrity and putting patients first.
We’re also excited to share that we are actively adding more Made in America eyewear options to our collection. While domestic choices are still limited, we believe in supporting American-made products and offering you the best in quality, value, and ethical sourcing. Stay tuned for future updates and announcements as we continue to expand our offerings and uphold our commitment to transparency, fairness, and exceptional care.
Thank you for trusting Cascadia Eye — we’re proud to serve you.
