Casccadia Eye Welcomes Murtaza Merali, OD

Cascadia Eye is pleased to announce the addition of Murtaza Merali, OD to its team of ophthalmology and optometry professionals as of January 2026.
Dr. Merali brings 31 years of clinical experience and a patient-centered approach to the practice. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of British Columbia and completed his Doctor of Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry in 1994. After spending 19 years caring for patients in the Pacific Northwest followed by 12 years practicing in Southern California, he returned to Washington in 2026 to join Cascadia Eye.
In his new role, Dr. Merali will provide comprehensive medical eye examinations, contact lens services, and advanced diagnostics while collaborating closely with surgeons to coordinate pre- and post-operative care. He is known for his straightforward communication style, commitment to patient education, and meticulous development of individualized treatment plans.

Outside of his clinical work, he enjoys staying active and exploring new pursuits. He’s widely traveled and has interests in activities such as diving, hiking, surfing, swimming, and weight lifting.
Dr. Merali is now seeing patients at Cascadia Eye’s Stanwood and Sedro-Woolley clinics.
