After attending the show in New York City this spring and meeting with many manufacturers there and throughout the year, we thought it would be helpful to share the current trends in eyewear fashion. Remember – you can swap lenses in any frame to create your own customized sunnies. Protect your vision from those bright summer rays and snap a photo to flaunt your stunning, trendy new look!

The color of the year is Peach Fuzz. The soft peach color is trending not only in eyewear but in home fashion and clothing. It is especially good for eyewear because this color flatters most skin tones and not only looks great but looks different depending on skin tone; a true “custom” color.

Color blocks. Although color blocking has come and gone, the current trend is with great neutral solids like black or tortoise with small “pops” of color creatively blocked into the frame. Usually, the blocking is done in the outside corners of the frame, but we are seeing more and more blocking on a larger part of the outside of the frame and even at the bridge. Popular color combos are tortoise and pink or tortoise and peach fuzz, but blue and the “right’ shade of green are also definitely trending.

You may have noticed a large comeback of cat eyes of every type. There is definitely a sub-culture of extreme cats and ‘creative’ cats that is finding its way into the mainstream. These are most popular with those under 65 (who weren’t around in the 50s and don’t remember the early cat eye styles).

Although minimal styles such as drill mounts (think frameless) are still around, they are not in the limelight of fashion. These are usually sought after by a loyal following and keep being a top seller because of them, not because of fashion trends.

A subtle movement, which is sure to gain traction over the next year are thin, colored metals. Also, because of their subtleness, we are liking them a bit larger than what we may choose in acetates or heavier metals. Square shapes also seem to be on the rise.

Another trend we are seeing are what I would describe as “pretty” frames. These will be soft standout colors or even ones with floral or other inlays or acetate designs.

One fun and creative trend is asymmetrical color in frames. Although many haute couture designers have always offered severe asymmetrical designs, they have never caught on with mainstream buyers. The new styles are subtle in their use of asymmetry. Look for the Isabelle model by Cascadia Eyewear coming out soon. One side of the opaque color blocking sweeps up on one side and not the other. It screams fashion forward and still looks great on the face!

Now that you’re up to speed on the latest and most fabulous eyewear trends, it’s time to try out a new look for your summer wardrobe! Remember to mention us in your social media posts so we can see you!
