In addition to practicing ophthalmology since 2008, Dr. Ernesto Golez completed his glaucoma fellowship at the prestigious Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he worked directly with Dr. Mark Latina, the inventor of the SLT laser (a significant sight-saving advancement in the treatment of glaucoma). Jean Kassem Mount Vernon eye doctor Jean Kassem, MD, joins us as Dr. Heffernan, longtime ophthalmic plastics specialist, retires. Dr. Kassem, also an ophthalmic plastics specialist, will continue offering lid and related surgery here at Cascadia Eye. In addition, he will provide adult strabismus (muscle) surgery–which is new to us. Dr. Kassem is available in our Mount Vernon office on Wednesdays.

Our Commitment to Improve

As part of our commitment to improve our care and services for our patients, we close the office for half a day on Thursdays of the second FULL week of every month. We devote this time entirely to the monthly continuing education of our staff. Our hours on this day will be 12:30 PM – 5:00 PM.
So please, do not be annoyed if you find us closed on a Thursday AM, it really is for you!
