Murtaza Merali, OD
Dr. Murtaza Merali earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of British Columbia and completed his Doctor of Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry in 1994. He grew up in the Pacific Northwest and spent 19 years caring for patients here, followed by 12 years practicing in Southern California, before returning to Washington in 2026.
Dr. Merali brings a skilled, detail-oriented approach to patient care. He provides comprehensive medical eye examinations and contact lens services and has extensive experience diagnosing and managing complex eye disease. He uses advanced diagnostic technology to create accurate, individualized treatment plans and collaborates closely with surgeons to coordinate pre- and post-operative care.
Patients appreciate Dr. Merali’s straightforward communication style and his commitment to patient education. By helping patients understand their daily eye health and encouraging lifelong eye care habits, he supports them in achieving and maintaining optimal vision. Outside the clinic, Dr. Merali likes to keep active and is willing to try out new pursuits. He is widely traveled and likes to try out new sports and recipes. His hobbies include diving, hiking, surfing, swimming, and weight lifting.
